In 2009, a group of interested citizens proposed the creation of a community garden in Englewood. This group worked with the Englewood Cultural Arts Commission and Denver Urban Gardens to research and plan the garden.
The proposal was approved by the Englewood Planning and Zoning Commission, and Conditional Use zoning was granted so a garden could be created. The garden will be located just north of Cushing Park at the Englewood Depot site (West Dartmouth Avenue and South Fox Street).
The Englewood Community Garden will provide a place for community members to work together to organically grow fruits, vegetables, and some flowers. The garden is expected to open in the spring of 2010. 12' by 12' plots will be available for a $25 plot fee and a refundable $25 Work Deposit (gardeners will be expected to participate in scheduled volunteer work days throughout the year).
Englewood Community Garden is Full for the 2010 Season!
All plots have been assigned at this time. If you are interested in becoming a Gardener please complete an application (PDF file) and send/deliver to Malley Recreation Center or Englewood Recreation Center.
